Capability
Areas
The
curricular content is organized in 70 texts which, instead
of the common practice of covering specific subject
matter, are aimed at the development of five fundamental
capabilities: mathematical, scientific, language and
communication, technological, and those of service to
the community. Two basic educational concepts underlie
this pedagogical perspective:
-
Curricular integration—the integration of different
disciplines (when required by the specific capability),
of theory and practice, of the abstract and the concrete,
of the material and the spiritual dimensions of life.
-
Emphasis in concepts, not information. The program
seeks to develop in each student the capability to
analyse, which will allow him or her to appropriate
scientific knowledge and use it to promote individual
and community development.
