Legal Recognition in Colombia

Over time the bodies in charge of overseeing educational institutions in Colombia have passed resolutions approving the SAT, on national as well as departmental and municipal levels. During the first years, for obvious reasons, the authorizations and approvals were awarded directly to FUNDAEC, as it developed the program’s contents and validated them one level of the pyramid at a time, in consonance with its methodological framework of Investigation-Action-Learning. The recognitions were achieved first in the Norte del Cauca region and soon thereafter in the Valle del Cauca. As the program expanded, the institutions that were committed to the implementation of the SAT in their regions were temporarily covered under the licenses and approvals given to FUNDAEC, until they, in turn, made progress securing official approval from their respective departments.
